Filmbuilding Malden 2023
Filmbuilding Malden took place during the summer and fall of 2023. Funded by the City of Malden, the program was carried out in partnership with Urban Media Arts and Essential Partners.
This pilot program program brought together residents of Malden, ranging in age from 22 to 77, to explore their community through co-creative visual storytelling. Each group, mentored by a professional filmmaking artist, went through the entirety of the filmmaking process, which involved collaborative discussions, community exploration, filming and story editing.
The completed films were premiered at site-specific events within Malden in order to celebrate the work with the community, inspire meaningful dialogue, and build further community connections.
